About the Workshop

Equity 2.0/Dynamic Divergence is a method of consistently engaging in reflective, adaptable, disparate, and supportive actions so that every individual can access whatever they need to thrive.

The process is complex, dynamic, and on- going: owning discriminatory flaws and biases; embracing a growth mindset; engaging in courageous conversations to challenge the misuse of power and privilege; creating safe and nurturing environments; understanding the impact of identities; consistently matching one’s actions to their words; respecting history while planning for the future; and breaking down systems that are creating barriers.

About the Speaker

Kelly D. Holstine is the 2018/2019 MN State Teacher of the

 Year (the first out LGBTQ+ teacher and the second alternative educator in MN to be given that honor), the 2018 Honoree for Women Breaking Barriers, the 2019 MN Lynx Women’s Spotlight Selection for Leader and Innovator in Arts and Education, and the 2019 MN Women’s Press Favorite Leader in Education.

Holstine is an educator, the owner of Dynamic Divergence Consulting, an Adjunct Professor at Augsburg University, a speaker, and a writer/author. Holstine’s co-written chapter titled: “Impact of Trauma on Our Youth" was recently published in the book, Flip the System: How Teachers Can Transform Education and Save Democracy, and she is a contributing writer for The Progressive.

Holstine has 28 years of experience working with youth and one of her highlights was helping to design, open, and run an alternative high school. She has worked and volunteered in the fields of education, media, team building, social services, animal rescue, and theatre. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Massachusetts, a Communication Arts and Literature teaching license from Augsburg University, and a Master of Arts in Education from Augsburg University.

She supports Intersectional Equity, compassionate accountability (and providing clarity before accountability), relational mindfulness, curiosity over judgment, courageous connections, restorative practices, experiential education, dynamic containers, flexible freedom within a structure, breathing out the chaos, and the power of vulnerability.

She is passionate about Equity 2.0: Dynamic Divergence and works diligently to eliminate the Educational Equity/Opportunity gap.

Holstine lives in St. Paul with her rescue pets.
