MCTE Spring Conference ~ May 4-5, 2023

Sustaining the Language Arts

Holiday Inn & Suites | Duluth, MN

Registration opens at 8:00 AM

Keynote speakers include Dawn Quigley, writer, education professor, and former English teacher and Indian education program co-director (Apple in the Middle; JoJo Makoons series); Robert B. Crisp, high school English and film teacher (Using Film to Unlock Student Literacy: A Teacher’s Guide); Nicole Kronzer, writer, high school English teacher, and former professional actor(Unscripted and The Roof Over Our Heads); and Shannon Gibney, writer, educator, and activist (See No Color and Dream Country, among others).

There will also be 30+ Breakout Sessions over this 2-day event—including topics such as Aligning with Minnesota 2020 ELA Standards, Teaching Diverse Literature, Facing Book Challenges, Supporting Reading and Vocabulary, Engaging Young Writers, and Sustaining Teachers and Teaching. Strands include Elementary, Middle Level, High School, and College-level presentations on a variety of reading and literacy related topics each day. Come join in the fun!

Registration includes MCTE membership, breakfast, and lunch each day. WiFi will be available. CEUs will be provided at the end of the conference.

Full-time Student and Board Member registrations will not be available after April 15.

::COVID-19 SAFETY::

MCTE will follow community COVID level information and CDC guidance for large public events in determining whether masks and proof of vaccination will be required for indoor conference spaces. We will contact registered attendees with an updated policy prior to the conference.
